Seven-Graders Win: A Lawrence seventh-grade girls basketball team won the Showtime Shoot Out at Blue Valley Northwest. Team members are Kimberly Davis, Kirby Beneventi, Rachael Klingler, Megan Klingler, Teal Meyer, Audrey Corkill, Jodie Cochrane and Erin Knight. Coach was Anthony Lyles.

Eagle Bend Leagues Forming: Spring golf leagues for men and women are forming at Eagle Bend Golf Course. A men's meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. next Tuesday and a women's meeting for 7 p.m. next Wednesday. Both will be at the Holcom Rec Center, 2700 W. 27th.   • Lions' Wedel Honored: Lawrence High tennis coach Dick Wedel has been named sectional girls tennis coach of the year by the National Federation of Interscholastic Coaches Association. The award covers a five-state area.

  • City Deadlines: Registration deadline for city-sponsored Sunday sand volleyball and spring basketball is next Wednesday. Registrations must be turned in at the Community Building, 115 W. 11th, by 5 p.m. For information, call Bob Stanclift at 832-7922.

  • Heitzman Wins: Paul Heitzman of Eudora won the ages 65-69 division of the Red Cross Relief Run on Saturday in Tulsa, Okla. Heitzman's time for the 5K race was 19:21.

  • LTC Parents Meeting: Lawrence Track Club will hold a parents meeting at 2 p.m. on March 14 at Free State High. Parents of youths ages 8 to 18 who are interested in track and field are invited. LTC practices will begin on April 5. For information, call Denis Yoder at 749-7271.

  • Bell, Little Shine for Aquahawks: Rebecca Ball of the Lawrence Aquahawks earned three first places and Melissa Little two at the Division II AAU swim championships last weekend. Other firsts were to Shannon Fisher, Sarah Marlow and Lindsey Witthaus. Kristen Longanecker earned a pair of seconds while Fisher and Little collected one each. The Aquahawks also won three relays.

  • Sport2Sport Offerings: Sport2Sport will be holding tryouts for its club baseball teams on March 20. Participants need to come dressed for a baseball practice. Sport2Sport is also accepting registrations for its Mad Game three-on-three basketball tournament on May 22-23. For information, call 843-4263.
