Services for Olen Laverne "Pete" Vann, 58, Lawrence, are pending and will be announced by Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.

Mr. Vann died Monday, June 28, 1999, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.


Leavenworth -- Mass of Christian Burial for Daniel M. Alford, 62, Kansas City, Kan., will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth. Burial will follow at the Holy Angels Cemetery, Leavenworth.

Mr. Alford died Sunday, June 27, 1999, at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.

He was born June 5, 1937, in Leavenworth, the son of William A. and Lorrain (Boten) Alford.

Mr. Alford was in sales and marketing most of his life and worked as the athletic ticket manager for Iowa State University for 10 years.

He was a member of the Holy Angels Catholic Church, Basehor, and the Knights of Columbus.

He married Marilene Workman on Jan. 24, 1958, in Topeka. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three daughters, Kelly Kultala, Kansas City, Kan., Dana Hess, Lawrence, and Shawn McWhirt, Shawnee; a son, Judson, Overland Park; his mother, Leavenworth; five brothers, William and John, both of Leavenworth, Myron, Austintown, Ohio, Edward, Topeka, and Chris, Lansing; five sisters, Regina Ericson and Margie Jewell, both of Lansing, Rosemary Peek, Troy, Ohio, Carole Simpson, Garden City, Patricia Lingenfelser, St. George; and 11 grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel. where a parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The family suggests memorials to the Holy Angels Catholic Church Building Fund or the Sisters of Servants to Mary, and they may be sent in care of the Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Funeral Chapel, 500 Oak St., Leavenworth 66048.
