A 21-year-old woman told police that a stranger who climbed on top of her after she was awakened early Tuesday left when he apparently realized he was in the wrong apartment.
The woman said she woke up to the sound of a door opening at 1:26 a.m. Tuesday in her apartment in the 1100 block of George Court. Scanning her bedroom, she saw a man she didn't recognize and asked him to identify himself.
The man walked toward her, jumped on top of her and straddled her while he held her wrists, she told police.
Then he got up, said he was in the wrong apartment and left, Sgt. George Wheeler said.
The intruder is described as a white man in his early 20s about 5 feet 7 inches tall and 130 to 140 pounds. He was wearing jeans and a short-sleeved white shirt, the woman said.
Police classified the incident as an aggravated burglary and sexual battery.
The woman did not return a phone call from the Journal-World on Tuesday.
