The Lawrence Farmers Market has something other than fresh produce this year.

The market has several special events scheduled through early fall, from Maize Days to the Fall Harvest Festival.

The market, in the 1000 block of Vermont, is open from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays, through Nov. 13. The events are:

July 10 -- Maize Days, with a corn boil, corn muffins, kettle corn, music and chef demonstrations.

Aug. 7 -- Do Play With Your Food, with zucchini race-car races, vegetable sculptures, music and potato stamp art.

Sept. 25 -- Learn to Eat Your Five-a-Day; with a food pyramid demonstration by Nancy O'Connor from the Community Mercantile; healthy snacks; recipes; and music.

Oct. 9 -- Fall Harvest Festival, with pumpkin carving, mums, dried flowers, caramel apples, kettle corn, cider sampling, a recipe contest and music.
