Ottawa -- Services for Derek Lee Markley, 24, Ottawa, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Fifteenth Street Church of Christ. Burial will be in Ruhamah Cemetery, Rantoul.

Mr. Markley died Monday, June 21, 1999, at his home.

He was born May 5, 1975, in Ottawa, the son of David and Sandra (Burgoon) Markley. He graduated from Pomona High School in 1993.

He attended York Christian College in York, Neb., and was a junior at Emporia State University.

Mr. Markley had worked for Our Own Hardware from 1994 to 1995, and was employed as a kiln operator for Heartland China from 1997 to 1998. He was a member of the Fifteenth Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include his parents, of the home; a brother, Ray Poe, Baldwin; a sister, Julie Suffron, Ottawa; and his maternal grandmother, Betty Ewing, Ottawa.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Dengel & Son Mortuary, where the family will receive friends at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The family suggests memorials to the Fifteenth Street Church of Christ, and they may be sent in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa 66067.
