— Graveside services for Perry Wayne McPheeters, 86, Baldwin, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Vinland Cemetery.

Mr. McPheeters died Saturday, June 19, 1999, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.

He was born May 25, 1913, in rural Douglas County, near Vinland, the son of William and Bertha (Andrews) McPheeters. He grew up on the family farm in the Cole Creek and Vinland area and graduated from Vinland High School. He attended Kansas University.

He was a farmer and stockman on the family farm for 40 years. The owner and operator of his own truck during World War II, Mr. McPheeters also served as a substitute rural mail carrier in the Baldwin area and did roofing work. Mr. McPheeters served in the National Guard during the 1930s.

A resident of Baldwin since 1984, he served on the Ottawa Production Credit Assn. for several years in the 1980s.

He married Maurine Reusch June 10, 1936, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Joanne Burns, Burbank, Calif., and Meredith Hann, Prospect Heights, Ill.; and a granddaughter.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home in Baldwin.

The family suggests memorials to the Vinland Cemetery Assn., and they may be sent in care of the funeral home at P.O. Box 64, Baldwin 66006.
