Kingsley prevails

Cecil Kingsley of Lawrence guided his team to the Grand Champion Trophy at the third annual Governor's "Hooked On Fishing" Classic for the second time in three years. Joining Kingsley on the winning team were John Dykes of Fairway and Gary Jones of Wichita.

Werth, Oetken win

Neil Werth and Steve Oetken, both of Great Bend, caught eight walleye and the Kansas Walleye Association tournament at last Sunday Marion Lake. John Lindsay of Wichita and Kent Dodds of Andover caught five walleye and finished second. Ron Erhard of Wellsville and Rob Masterson of Spring Hill were third.

Bass champions

Mike Edrington of Gardner and Matt Wolf of Overland Park caught five bass that weighed 19.30 pounds to win the Wednesday Night Bass Anglers tournament on June 9 at Hillsdale Lake. Bob Smith of Olathe and Bill Tuley of Westwood caught one bass that weighed 4.56 pounds and took second place.

Catfish titlists

Ron Zook and Lisa Demmel, both of St. Joseph, Mo., caught five flathead catfish that weighed 14.8 pounds and won the USCATS tournament on the Missouri River at the French Bottoms Access near St. Joseph. Clinton Marina will be the site of the next USCATS tourney on July 12.

June 30 meeting

Overland Park -- The Wildlife and Parks Commission will conduct a public meeting and hearing on June 30 at Shawnee Mission Park, 7900 Renner Road. The public is invited to all sessions.
