Oskaloosa -- Services for Arlene M. Ponder, 75, of Oskaloosa, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at the Barnett Funeral Home, Oskaloosa. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Oskaloosa.

Mrs. Ponder died Saturday, June 19, 1999, at the Hickory Point Care Home, Oskaloosa.

She was born April 14, 1924, in rural Oskaloosa, the daughter of Otto Herman and Daisy Elizabeth Prentice Premauer. She had lived in Oskaloosa since 1983, when she moved from Panama City, Fla., where she had lived for 35 years.

She was a real estate secretary for Lois S. Tharp Real Estate Co. and Allen & Blair Realtors in Panama City for many years. She also worked as a bookkeeper and secretary at the Holiday Lodge Motel in Panama City.

Mrs. Ponder was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary No. 36, both in Oskaloosa. She was a member of the Florida Society of Mayflower Descendants, Captain Jesse Leavenworth Chapter and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1941 and Clark's Business School in Topeka.

She married George Davis in January 1942. They divorced in 1966, and he died in 1992.

She married Roland "Drew" Ponder in December 1974 at Donaldsonville, Ga. He survives in Pine Bluff, Ark.

Other survivors include her father, Oskaloosa; two sons, George Glenn Davis, Oskaloosa, and Otto Michael Davis, Virginia Beach, Va.; two daughters, Linda Stevens, Andalusia, Ala., and Georgianne Davis, Oskaloosa and Panama City; a stepson, Richard Ponder, Pine Bluff, Ark.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to the Jefferson County Hospice or the Oskaloosa Public Library, and they may be sent in care of the funeral home.
