Pueblo, Colo. -- Matt Maigaard went 5-for-5 to pace an 18-hit attack that carried the Lawrence Raiders to a 16-10 triumph over Burkburnett, Texas, on Friday in the Andenucio Memorial Legion baseball tournament.
The Raiders were cruising with a 5-1 lead after three innings when the Texans exploded for nine runs in the fourth to grab a 10-5 lead. The rally featured only four hits, but errors and walks hurt the Raiders. Only one of the runs was earned.
Non-plussed, the Raiders came back with four in the bottom of the fourth, then added three in the fifth and four more in the sixth.
All of Maigaard's hits were singles, but Ryan Phelps and Nick Wilcox each hit doubles, Matt Heider had a triple and Dustin Myers slammed a three-run homer in the third.
Maigaard, the Raiders' left-fielder, is 8-for-12 in the three tourney games.
Phelps, the Raiders' second baseman, was 3-for-4 while Wilcox, Myers and Jim Lewis had two hits apiece.
Ryan Hadl, who relieved started Matt Wiedeman in the fourth, was credited with the victory, his first of the season.
The Raiders, 9-4 overall and 2-1 in the tourney, will complete pool play today with a morning game against a team from Las Vegas, Nev., and an afternoon clash with a team from Albuquerque.
