MATHEW N. HOLLADAY, the son of Joe and Roi Holladay, Lawrence, has graduated from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y., and has been commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He majored in systems engineering.

WEST POINT CADET John D. Finch, son of Ray and Jean Finch, Lawrence, completed his first year at the U.S. Military Academy, and was selected as a Distinguished Cadet, earning a grade-point average of 3.87.

JAYHAWK CHAPTER 22 of the Lawrence Disabled American Veterans and auxiliary members attended the annual state convention last weekend in Salina. Those attending from the Lawrence area were Russ Hann, Eudora, who was elected state senior vice commander; Art Barton, Lawrence, who was on the finance-budget committee; Helga Barton, Lawrence, who was on the nominating committee; Rose Denton, Lawrence, who represented Lawrence as an ex-committeewoman; and Norman Denton, Lawrence, who played the piano for memorial services Sunday morning. Carol Cook, Lawrence, wife of Don Cook, life member of DAV, played entrance music on the piano and accompanied the couple's children, Anna Cook, cellist, and Cyril Cook, violinist, who played several numbers at the service. A total of 185 deceased members were remembered, and 150 Kansas members attended the convention.
