The final bid may be in.
Sealed bids for the purchase of the Lawrence school district's former India School property were opened Friday. Assistant Supt. Craig Fiegel, who will be attending his last school board meeting Monday, said he expects to present a good bid on the property so the board can authorize the sale of the building.
Fiegel also will address budget issues and his recommendation that the district set a higher mill levy limit for capital outlay. In the past the maximum allowed by law was 4 mills. Each mill generates about $500,000 for the district. Fiegel is suggesting an increase of 2 mills, because the levy limit has been removed. He recommends using the additional revenue to fund building projects.
The board also will hear reports from the Parents As Teachers, Even Start and Readiness programs.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at the District Service Center, 3705 Clinton Pkwy.
