Lightning leaves homes
A thunderstorm Friday night that rolled through Lawrence caused a temporary loss of power in the city.
An official with KPL said that about 7 p.m. around 400 households scattered throughout the city lost power as the storm hit.
"They're fairly small outages, a few houses here and a few houses there," said Mark Schreiber, manager of community relations for KPL.
The power outages were caused by lightning strikes, Schreiber said. Most households' power was restored quickly.
The storm dropped more than an inch of rain on the city, according to the rain gauge at Sunflower Cablevision in downtown Lawrence.
