Deadline approaches
for farming loans
The deadline for filing applications for Emergency Disaster (EM) loans by farmers and ranchers in Johnson County for Disaster Declaration M-1253 is Monday.
This is also the deadline for filing application for EM loans by farmers and ranchers in Douglas, Miami and Franklin counties for Disaster Declaration M-1254, while residents of Osage, Johnson and Shawnee counties have until June 22 to file under that declaration. The deadline for EM loans for M-1254 Amendment 2 and 3 for Anderson and Linn counties is June 28.
To be eligible for an EM loan, an applicant must be operating a family-size farm or ranch, must be unable to get credit elsewhere and must have suffered a qualifying physical and/or production loss from the disaster. A qualified production loss would be at least 30 percent reduction to at least one crop. The loans cover up to 80 percent of qualifying losses or $500,000, whichever is less.
Applications should be made at the Farm Service Agency office, 107 E. 23rd, Ottawa.
