The driver of a vehicle in a May 30 accident that sent two children to an area hospital by helicopter has been booked into jail on multiple warrants.
Patrick David Nieder Sr., 35, Lawrence, on Monday night was booked into the Douglas County Jail on warrants for aggravated battery, reckless driving, furnishing alcohol to a minor, driving with an open container and a third incident of driving while intoxicated.
Authorities said Nieder was driving a small car on East 550 Road about a half-mile west of the town of Clinton when it slid on a corner and struck an embankment.
Two passengers, Kara Nieder, 13, and Pat Nieder Jr., 11, were taken to a Kansas City hospital from the scene by helicopter with serious injuries.
Pat Nieder Sr. and three other passengers also were taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital by ambulance.
Pat Nieder Sr. was being held Monday night without bond.
