EL DORADO The Lawrence Raiders pounded 21 hits and notched two more run-rule victories Saturday in the El Dorado Invitational baseball tournament.
In a morning game, Ryan Phelps had three hits and drove in four runs to pace the Raiders' six-inning, 13-5 triumph over Wichita Post 401. Matt Heider had two hits and scored three runs.
In the evening, Nick Wilcox slugged a grand slam and Dustin Myers hit a solo homer to spark a four-inning, 12-2 romp over Winfield.
Matt Maigaard and Bix Ellenbecker collected three singles apiece to pace the 11-hit attack. Maigaard had a pair of doubles. Ellenbecker poked a double and a triple.
"We've been very impressive with the bats against average pitching," Raiders coach Lee Ice said. "Our pitching has been good, and our defense has yet to be tested."
The test may come today when the Raiders tangle with host El Dorado for the tourney championship at 5:30 p.m.
The Raiders' home opener is scheduled next Wednesday against the KC Seminoles at Free State High.
