Kansas Farm Bureau President Gary Hall has been appointed to serve as a member of a federal agricultural trade advisory committee.
Hall, a grain and livestock farmer from Chapman, will serve on the Agricultural Technical Advisory Committee for Trade in Grains, Feed and Oilseeds. The appointment was made by Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman and U.S. Trade Representative Charlene Barshefsky.
"The knowledge and experience of these appointees will serve American agriculture well," Glickman said of Hall and others. "This is an important time for agricultural trade policy as we approach the second round of WTO negotiations, which will begin in November."
The United States is in the process of formulating its goals for the talks, and the advisory committee will play a key role in that process, he said.
