Services for Olen Laverne "Pete" Vann, 58, Lawrence, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors by Disabled American Veterans Chapter 22, Lawrence.
Mr. Vann died Monday, June 28, 1999, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 25, 1940, in Mound City, the son of Olaf and Alberta Pafena (Bonner) Vann. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1958.
Mr. Vann served in the U.S. Marines for more than four years. He served as a project engineer for McDonald's and Swinerton & Walberg Inc. in San Francisco, and also at Hallmark Cards, Kansas City, Mo.
He was a member Calvary Church of God in Christ and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 22, both of Lawrence.
He married Patricia Ann Parks on Nov. 29, 1986, in Kansas City, Kan. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Quawana B., Atlanta; two daughters, Sonya Vann and Shameika Gilmore, both of St. Louis; his parents, Lawrence; two sisters, Rose Marie Armstrong and Joya Syed, both of Lawrence; and a grandchild.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Friday and 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, and they may be sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
