The colors for fall

The fashion faithful are pretty in pink for summer. But the colors for autumn are red, purple, orange, blue and green. Results of the Pantone Designer Color Survey for fall 1999 showed these trends: orange, purple, green, blue and "jester" red for women, and purple, olive, blue, gray and Tibetan red for men. The use of soothing aloe greens emerged as the pivotal neutral colors, besides the usual camels, grays and browns, the Pantone Color Institute said. Pantone said traditional fall hues were shown along with lighter, typically spring colors by designers at the 7th on Sixth fall 1999 collections in New York's Bryant Park, indicating a trend toward "season-less" color.

Gym wear in fashion

J. Crew, the New York-based clothing retailer, is launching J.Crew GYM, multipurpose activewear intended for low-impact sports. J.Crew GYM is designed for the female athlete and is the counterpart of J.Crew Sport for men, launched in 1997. The fall 1999 line consists of 13 pieces, including stretch fleece shorts and zip-up jacket; running pant with ankle grippers; and Capri pants, ballet top and bike short. Prices range from $20 for a cotton T-shirt to $48 for the running pant.
