Phat Elvis is coming to dinner.

Mojo's, a downtown take-out restaurant known for its spicy wings and trademark Phat Elvis sauce, is opening a second location inside The Pool Room, 925 Iowa.

Mojo's II -- employees call it the "The Deuce" -- will more than double the 3-year-old restaurant's space, plus open opportunities for catering, large parties and sit-down dining, said co-owner Doug Yetman.

With a larger kitchen, Mojo's II also will feature the Mojo Burger, a new menu item featuring ground beef, ketchup, mustard, lettuce, pickles and tomato with a twist: the rich, Memphis-style Phat Elvis sauce.

"We serve 'comfort food,'" said Yetman, whose menu includes fried bologna sandwiches, Cincinnati chili and three-bean baked beans. "We're not the most health-conscious place around. If it's bad for you, so be it. We want people to overindulge."

Mojo's II will conduct a "dry run" beginning at 5 p.m. today, with two boxes of free wings available till they run out. It will be open six nights a week, excluding Sundays.

Yetman and his partners -- James Langford and Frank Lemus Jr. -- have 20 employees at the current Mojo's, and have no immediate plans to add staff. They expect to have 35 employees by the time Kansas University starts this fall.
