Supporters of moving a 1860s-era house to Hobbs Park as a memorial to Lawrence's founders and defenders received a dose of good news during the weekend.
The Old West Lawrence Assn. pledged $2,500 toward the project to move a home from 909 Pa. to the northwest end of Hobbs Park, near 10th and Delaware streets, said Jim McCrary, a member of the project's steering committee.
The announcement came Saturday, McCrary said, and added to other good news for project supporters. The project recently cleared the first round of cuts for a $25,000 grant from state tourism officials, and the group already has secured $25,000 in pledges for the estimated $130,000 project.
If all goes well, McCrary said, the house could be moved late this summer onto a new foundation atop a little-used parking lot at Hobbs.
"Our timeline is ASAP," McCrary said.
