The Douglas County Infant-Toddler Coordinating Council (ICC) is collaborating with Douglas County's Lone Star 4-H group and Lawrence Memorial Hospital to put together a gift for all newborns born at Lawrence Memorial Hospital until the year 2000.
The three groups are working together so that parents of newborns will receive a rattle, an activity sheet, and information about the Douglas County ICC. The groups assembled 500 gift packages on Wednesday, and will assemble more during the year.
The ICC is an organization that provides free screenings to all children in Douglas County between the ages of birth and three. They also provide developmental evaluations and special services to children with developmental delays or disabilities. The purpose of the project is to increase awareness of services available to children and families through the ICC.
