The existing regulations say demolition derby cars are exempt if they're still running.
"Demolition derby entries often appear to be junk cars," the policy says. "If they continue to have the capacity to be entered in a contest, they should be exempt from the regulations. If wrecked beyond repair, they should be considered junk cars."
Other highlights of the policy:
- If junk cars are not visually obvious, county staff will not take the initiative to pursue elimination by trespass investigations.
- Any complaint of a junk car will be investigated, and the offending property owner will be notified to eliminate the junk cars.
- Property owners refusing to comply within a reasonable time frame when notified of a violation will be referred to the district attorney.
