The McLouth city council on Tuesday night approved the hiring of a new, full-time maintenance employee.
Ken Eads was hired from among several applicants, Mayor Glenn Wear said.
Eads replaces Bruce Edwards, who left the position about three weeks ago to work for the Kansas Turnpike Authority, Wear said.
In other business, the council approved $3,200 for a new water pump to be installed at the city's pumping station.
The council also approved a spring parade for noon April 17.
"There used to be a parade years ago and some people wanted to have one again," Wear said.
