— Services for Charles "Wayne" Dicken, 74, DeSoto, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the DeSoto Baptist Church. Burial will be at the DeSoto Cemetery.

Mr. Dicken died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Center, Olathe.

He was born April 26, 1924, in DeSoto, the son of Charles Pleasant II and Oma Gregory Dicken. He graduated from DeSoto High School in 1941, and attended Kansas University.

Mr. Dicken was a farmer. He was a member of the DeSoto Baptist Church, as well as the church's board of trustees. He was also a Mason and member of the DeSoto Lions, the DeSoto Cemetery Board and the Grand Lodge, Scottish Rite. He had served one term on the DeSoto city council and 14 years on the DeSoto School Board. He co-founded the Kansas Soybean Assn.

He married Anna Ruth McElfish on Nov. 17, 1951, in DeSoto. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Robert, DeSoto; two daughters, Sharon Dicken, DeSoto, and Susan Royd-Sykes, Auburn; three brothers, Clyde Dicken, Prairie Village, Howard Dicken, Overland Park, and Robert Osborne, Olathe; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the church, where a Masonic service will be given at 7:30 p.m.

The family suggests memorials to the Juvenile Diabetes Assn., Olathe Hospice or Good Samaritan Center, sent in care of the Bruce Funeral Home, P.O. Box 192, Gardner 66030.
