— Mike Wall scored 32 points to lead Cal-San Diego to a 101-79 men's basketball victory over Baker on Sunday. John Duncanson led Baker, 8-6, with 15 points. Aaron Schwerman added 12 points and John Macan and Julio Dos Santos 10 apiece for the Wildcats.

FSHS sophs win, 31-28

Joy Jackson and Christina Neighbors each scored nine points as Free State High edged Leavenworth, 31-28, in sophomore girls basketball on Monday at Free State. The Firebirds (1-3) will play host to Lawrence on Thursday.

LHS sophs split

Lawrence High's sophomore girls basketball A team (2-4) defeated Shawnee Mission West, 35-27 at home on Monday, thanks to 12 points from Lisa Dixon and eight from Ashley Burnett. The B squad (0-3) fell to the Vikings, 24-23, despite Hallie Fitzgerald's five points.

Baldwin junior high

sweeps Eudora

Wellsville -- Baldwin's eighth grade and seventh grade boys basketball teams defeated Eudora in the first round of the Wellsville Invitational on Monday.

The eighth graders (1-0) were led by Kyler Troth's 14 points and Cliff Sudja's 10 points in its 57-30 win. Andy Hannon scored seven points as the seventh graders (1-0) beat Eudora, 30-25.

Two FSHS sophomores

win at wrestling meet

Leavenworth -- Free State High's had two first-place finishers at the Leavenworth sophomore wrestling tournament Saturday.

Roman Rodriguez (119 pounds) and Brian Chaussee (152) both were 3-0 while winning their respective weight classes. Eric White (119), Chris Ichelson (189) and Matt Wehner (189) all went 0-2 for the Firebirds.

LHS sophs sweep

Overland Park -- Terrelle Johnson scored 10 points and Chris Kelley contributed nine to boost Lawrence High's sophomore boys basketball team (5-1) to a 41-37 victory over Shawnee Mission West on Monday. In the B game, Jeremy Farmer scored 12 points to lead LHS to a 52-29 victory and improve to 3-0. Next for LHS is a home game against Free State on Friday.
