— Kansas will meet Mississippi at 9 a.m. today in a first-round match of the ITA National Women's Indoor Team tennis championships.

The Jayhawks earned a spot in the tournament by advancing to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA championships last spring. Kansas, currently ranked No. 17, is one of 16 teams competing. Stanford is defending champion.

Big 12 meet begins today

Austin, Texas -- Kansas will be hoping to improve on last year's fourth-place finish when the Jayhawks compete in the Big 12 Conference women's swim championships today through Saturday at the Texas Swimming Center.

Seabury wins

Chris Patch and Aaron Landis scored 11 points apiece to lift Seabury Academy to a 42-23 boys eighth-grade basketball win over Eudora on Tuesday. Seabury won the seventh-grade game, 33-31, as John Parker scored a dozen points.

South 8th rolls

Olathe -- South's eighth-grade boys basketball team improved to 10-5 with a 33-28 victory over Olathe Pioneer Trail on Wednesday. Dominick Harrell led the Cougars with eight points. Matt Johnson scored 11 points and Ryan Roland grabbed 10 rebounds to help South's B team improve to 12-1 with a 41-33 win.
