Robbery reports from a Lawrence apartment complex are flowing into the Lawrence Police Department, and more are expected as other residents return home after holiday trips.

At least three apartment dwellers in a complex in the 1900 block of Massachusetts arrived home to discover items missing after a thief or thieves apparently entered several apartments through unlocked windows during the Christmas holiday.

Three reports were complete Wednesday and "more are expected," said Sgt. George Wheeler, police spokesman.

The complex has about 30 apartments.

"We tell people all the time, make sure everything is locked up as tight as possible when you are gone," Wheeler said. "And, every year we have robbery reports that come in as people return from their holiday vacation."

One resident reported theft of a Bud Ice neon sign and miscellaneous household and personal items valued at $2,180.

Total losses at the complex have not yet been determined.

The victims are still making lists of missing property to assist authorities in the investigation, Wheeler said. Some of the items taken include stereo and computer equipment, Beanie Babies, a KU jacket, pictures, movies and an electronic game system.

Anyone with information regarding the break-ins are asked to call Crime Stoppers of Douglas County at 843-TIPS (843-8477).
