Leavenworth -- Services for Julian R. Brown, 88, Leavenworth, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Mr. Brown died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Veteran Affairs Medical Center, Leavenworth.
He was born Nov. 16, 1911, in Lawrence, the son of John and Birdie (Raffle) Brown.
Mr. Brown had served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Buffalo Soldier. He served in England, France and in the Battle of the Bulge, earning numerous medals. He worked in the engineering department at Ft. Leavenworth.
He married Gladys Bennett on Nov. 28, 1956, in Leavenworth. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Roberta Harris and Mary Louise Tolbert, both of Leavenworth; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to service time Friday at the church.
