A rural Lawrence strip club received an unwanted Christmas present -- 13 times over -- during the holiday weekend.
Thirteen bullet holes were counted Sunday afternoon by the Douglas County Sheriff's Department inside the Paradise Saloon, 1697 Highway 24-40.
"Someone shot into the building sometime between 10:30 p.m. Christmas Eve and 4:30 p.m. Dec. 26," Sheriff Loren Anderson said.
The business, located northeast of Lawrence, was closed and vacant during the holiday.
Most of the damage was to the juke box, valued at $6,000. Also damaged were four walls, various mirrors, file cabinets and a coffee pot.
Paradise owner Susan Price could not be reached Tuesday for comment on the shooting. The saloon was open for business Monday.
The Sheriff's Department has no suspects in the vandalism.
Anyone with information to help locate the shooter can call Crime Stoppers of Douglas County at 843-TIPS (843-8477).
