Man found guilty
of robbing grocery store
A jury has found Michael B. Basquine, 34, guilty in the May 6 robbery of Alvin's IGA.
According to Douglas County Assistant Dist. Atty. Rick Trapp, a jury Tuesday found Basquine guilty of robbery. Trapp said Basquine remained in custody in the Douglas County Jail in lieu of bond. The trial started Monday.
Sentencing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Jan. 21.
Basquine had fled the Lawrence area and was featured in a Crime Stoppers program. He was arrested Sept. 10 in Los Angeles and returned to Lawrence for trial.
