Two arrested
in park robbery
Lawrence police arrested two men after they allegedly beat and robbed a man about 9:30 p.m. Saturday in Riverfront Park.
Police about 9:30 p.m. were called to the area, where they caught two men burglarizing a car.
The owner of the car told police the men had beaten him with a tree branch and taken his car keys. The victim was able to call police with a cellular phone after the attack, police said.
Jay Anthony Trujillo, 21, Lawrence, was arrested for aggravated robbery.
Tyrone Alexander Kazena, 22, Lawrence, was arrested for aggravated robbery, burglary and theft.
Both were being held without bond in the Douglas County Jail on Sunday night.
The victim suffered a bump on his head and a cut, but refused medical treatment, police said.
