A 21-year-old Kansas University employee was in fair condition Monday at a Kansas City area hospital, where he is recovering from injuries sustained in a stabbing early Saturday.
Officials are guarding where Aron Guthrie is recuperating from the stab wounds he suffered during a fight that broke out during a party at 12th and Ohio streets.
Police were responding to a report of a fight at 12:58 a.m. Saturday when they found Guthrie.
Bowen P. Dino, a 25-year-old transient, made his first appearance on Monday in Douglas County District Court in connection with the stabbing.
Prosecutors have charged Dino with aggravated battery. A judge scheduled Dino's preliminary hearing for Aug. 30. Dino remained in the Douglas County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bond.
About 100 people watched the fight, police said.
