Osage City -- Mass of Christian Burial for Forest Sadie "Tut" Whalen, 85, Osage City, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Osage City. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Osage City.

Mrs. Whalen died Thursday, Aug. 19, 1999, at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center, Topeka.

She was born Aug. 19, 1914, in Waverly, the daughter of Harvey B. and Madge (Copple) Tuttle. She graduated from Waverly High School, and she moved to Osage City in 1936.

Mrs. Whalen was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Altar Society at the church. She was also a member of the Gad-A-Bouts at Security National Bank and the Osage City Senior Citizens Center.

She married Donald W. Whalen on Sept. 10, 1936, in Topeka. He died Feb. 26, 1979.

Survivors include four daughters, Nancy L. Bowlin and Susan J. Buenger, both of Osage City, Cynthia A. Whalen, Topeka, and Katherine M. Johnson, Burlingame; five sons, Michael J. Whalen and Gregory H. Whalen, both of Osage City, Ernest H. Whalen, Larned, Richard T. Whalen, Lansing, and Kurt D. Whalen, Lawrence; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the church, where a rosary will be recited at 5 p.m.

The family suggests memorials to the St. Patrick Catholic Church, 309 South Sixth, Osage City 66523.

Crable Funeral Chapel, Osage City, is in charge of arrangements.
