PHILIP H. COOK
Mass of Christian Burial for Philip H. Cook, 71, Lawrence, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Cremation will follow services.
Mr. Cook died Thursday, Aug. 19, 1999, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 29, 1927, in Pewamo, Mich., the son of Charles H. and Matilda M. (Schaefer) Cook. He earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Michigan State University, East Lansing, Mich. He moved to Lawrence more than 10 years ago.
Mr. Cook served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He had a private practice for 17 years in Marlette, Mich., and had worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a program review officer for 13 years. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
He married Donna Biergans on Aug. 27, 1955, in Lansing, Mich. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include three sons, Charles B., Frankenmuth, Mich., Steven P., Park City, Utah, and Joseph P., Olathe; two sisters, Louise Schreiber, Harlingen, Tex., and Susan Knoll, L'Anse, Mich.; and six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church. A Scripture prayer service will be conducted at 8 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to the Corpus Christi Catholic Church Building Fund, and they may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
