Does the demolition derby check the blood alcohol level of the drivers, and has it ever been an issue?
No on both counts, said Douglas County Fair Board member Mike Leming, who has organized the event for the past five years.
"I don't know how time-consuming it is to do that for everybody," Leming said.
The demolition derby rules, mailed to each contestant, contain information about the alcohol ban on the fairgrounds.
"They know they're not supposed to, and the police are watching the pits," Leming said.
