WaKeeney -- Services for Virgil L. Geyer, 82, WaKeeney, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, WaKeeney. Burial will be at WaKeeney City Cemetery.

Mr. Geyer died Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, at a WaKeeney hospital.

He was born Oct. 26, 1916, in northern Trego County, the son of Elmer Geyer and Lola (Coffman) Geyer.

He was a farmer and stockman.

Mr. Geyer was a past member and past president of the Trego County Farm Bureau, a past 4-H leader, a member of First United Methodist Church of WaKeeney, and a past member of the Pleasant Valley rural school board in WaKeeney.

He married Alice Grusing on May 15, 1941, in Wichita County. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Galen, WaKeeney, and Merle, Lawrence; two daughters, Carolyn Garbo, Hillsboro, and Leila Kasey, Lincoln; three brothers, Harold, Scappoose, Ore., Lloyd, Leoti, and Sydney, Shadow Hills, Calif.; two sisters, Betty Baker, Marienthal, and Norman Seibert, Sharon Springs; three granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney.

The family suggests memorials to Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital's long-term care unit or to First United Methodist Church, WaKeeney.
