LMH PREPARES FOR Y2K
Lawrence Memorial Hospital won't be facing medical bill or record disasters at the start of next year because of the Y2K bug, LMH representatives say.
Tom Pagano, chief information officer with the hospital's management information systems department, said 70 percent of the hospital's Y2K concerns recently were put to rest with the addition of the new STAR system. The system tracks patient information, from admission to dismissal, and the billing process.
The remaining computer systems aren't directly related to patient care, Pagano said, but LMH employees have been working to ensure they are Y2K-compliant.
