LOIS L. HANSON

Services for Lois L. Hanson, 93, Eudora, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Plymouth Congregational Church, Lawrence. Burial will be in Eudora Cemetery.

Mrs. Hanson died Tuesday, April 27, 1999, at the Eudora Nursing Center.

She was born Dec. 24, 1905, in Los Angeles, the daughter of Fred G. and Bessie Dearth Laptad. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1923, and Kansas University in 1927 with a bachelor's degree in education. She returned to the Lawrence and Eudora area in 1992 from Wichita.

She formerly taught physical education and mathematics at the junior high and high school level in Fort Scott, Madison, Wis., and Holdredge, Neb.

She was member of Plymouth Congregational Church and its Morning Glory group. She was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Eudora, and American Association of Retired Persons. She was a life member of the Wichita Gem and Mineral Club, and a charter member of the Do-Si-Do Square Dance Club, Lawrence. She organized and led a Girl Scout troop in Eudora.

She married Loring O. Hanson on Sept. 2, 1929, in Lawrence. He died Jan. 7, 1975.

Survivors include a son, David Hanson, Eudora; a sister, Alice Wright, Fort Pierce, Fla.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Susan Hanson Witzel, died in 1975.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to the Eudora Nursing Center or charity of the donor's choice, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
