Topeka -- Memorial services for Lois Hayes, 82, Topeka, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Wesley Hall at Aldersgate Village. A private family inurnment service will be held in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Hayes died Thursday, April 22, 1999, at Aldersgate Village.
She was born April 23, 1916, in Sycamore, the daughter of Ernest and Lizzie Smith Osborn. She had lived in Topeka since 1954.
She graduated from Independence Community College in Independence, Kan. She and her husband ministered to churches in Colorado and eastern Kansas. They served at Lowman United Methodist Church, Topeka, from 1959 to 1967.
She was a district and conference officer for the United Methodist Women; president of the Residents Council for many years at Aldersgate Village; and a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
She married Dr. Clare J. Hayes on April 2, 1935, in Toronto, Kan. He died Jan. 28, 1990.
Survivors include three sons, the Rev. Kirby Hayes, Baldwin, E. Kent Hayes, Lawrence, and Kenneth Charles, Creston, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Kenneth Snell, Independence, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Good Samaritan Fund in care of Aldersgate Village, or Lowman United Methodist Church, Topeka.
