Doctors' group

gets new name

A new venture of Lawrence Memorial Hospital -- an obstetrician-gynecology group -- was born last month, and now it has been given a name: Lawrence Ob/Gyn Specialists.

The hospital is signing the final papers on Friday for the agreement with the former Lincoln Center, which will continue to operate from the Lawrence Health Plaza, 330 Ark.

There are three doctors with the practice, and LMH President and Chief Executive Officer Gene Meyer said the hospital is recruiting another doctor.

At Wednesday's hospital board meeting, Meyer said costs to acquire the practice will be about $133,000, which includes a $25,000 expenditure for all patient records and $76,000 for furniture and medical equipment.
