Winchester -- Services for Joe K. Parks, 78, Winchester, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Reformed Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Leavenworth Veterans Administration National Cemetery.

Mr. Parks died Tuesday, April 20, 1999, at a Topeka Hospital.

He was born Oct. 12, 1920, in Clinton, Mo., the son of Walter L. and Edith P. Jewel Parks. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1939.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and was a metal mechanic for Trans World Airlines, Kansas City, Mo. He retired in 1984 after 20 years of service. He attended Reformed Presbyterian Church, Winchester.

He married Karen M. "Marcie" Smithson on Aug. 20, 1979, in Miami, Okla. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Pamela Sue Miller and Kay Fairchild, both of Columbia, S.C.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after noon today at Barnett Funeral Home, Oskaloosa, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today.

The family suggests memorials to the Volunteer Program at the Kansas Neurological Institute, and they may be sent in care of the funeral home, 820 Liberty, Oskaloosa, 66066.
