lands state award
The city's director of housing and neighborhood development is the Nadine Burch Person of the Year, an award presented by the Kansas chapter of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO).
The award honors Lynn Goodell for his individual contributions to the quality of housing or community development through innovation, initiative, creativity and advocacy.
Goodell was the brains behind the city's HAND Addition, where 30 new homes were built through a partnership involving homebuilders, lenders, non-profit organizations and city officials.
The project provides homes for low- and moderate-income, first-time homebuyers at 24th Street and Haskell Avenue.
Goodell's "strong belief" in federal housing programs, ability to work with federal officials and "his creativity and imagination have enabled him to bring the best to this community and the NAHRO organization," City Manager Mike Wildgen said.
