Services for Michael P. Tubbs, 55, Lawrence, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will follow in Clinton Cemetery, Clinton.
Mr. Tubbs died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.
He was born Oct. 29, 1943, in Lawrence, the son of Paul and Sara Amerine Tubbs. He graduated in 1961 from Lawrence High School.
He worked 35 years for the U.S. Postal Service in Lawrence. He retired in 1988 as the manager of the Jayhawk Station. He was employed as the assistant building manager for the Kansas University Endowment Association. He had worked for Hallmark Cards and was a volunteer for the Wakarusa Township Fire Department.
He married Penny Sherman on June 20, 1977, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include five daughters, Michelle Scott, Fort Irwin, Calif., Lori Wilkins, Lawrence, and Shauna Tubbs, Jessica Tubbs and Haylee Tubbs, all of the home; a son, Andy Tubbs, Lawrence; a brother, Nick Tubbs, Kansas City, Mo., and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at the mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to the education fund for the children of Michael Tubbs or the American Diabetes Assn., and they may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
