Covina, Calif. -- Services for Dorothy Irene Evans, 70, Oskaloosa, Kan., will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, Glendora. Inurnment will be at Forest Hill Memorial Park, Covina.

Mrs. Evans died Thursday April 8, 1999, at her daughter's home in rural Oskaloosa.

She was born Aug. 16, 1928, at Donner's Grove, Ill., the daughter of Walter David and Florence Lucile Mueller Cronkhite. She had lived in Oskaloosa a short time, moving from California, where she lived most of her life.

She was a bookkeeper for the TEC Color Craft Co. in Covina for 14 years before her retirement.

Mrs. Evans was a member of the Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside and Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grants Pass, Ore. She also was a member of the Christian Singles Club and several dance clubs.

She married Glen Earl Evans on Feb. 14, 1947, at Covina. He died Nov. 30, 1992.

Survivors include four sons, Edward Lee Evans, Belgium, Allen "Jerry" Evans, San Diego, James Craig Evans, Alta Loma, and Jack Earl Evans, Oskaloosa; a daughter, Nancy Denise Chess, Oskaloosa; a brother, Donald Cronkhite, Thousand Oaks; a sister, Genevieve Murphy, Portland, Ore.; 19 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, the Harvest Christian Fellowship of Riverside, or the Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grants Pass. Memorials may be sent to the Barnett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 416, Oskaloosa 66066, which is handling local arrangements.
