Regarding red lights and green lights on Iowa and 23rd Street in westbound lanes, when going through the light the time for completion is 28 seconds. How about if we coordinate the lights on 23rd Street as many people have requested before?
David Woosley of city's transportation and traffic staff said the city hired a consultant in 1996 to provide coordination timing plans for Iowa Street between Ninth and 33rd streets.
Last year, he said, a consultant was hired to provide coordination timing plans for Sixth Street between Massachusetts Street and Wakarusa Drive. The Sixth Street project should be implemented in the near future.
Additional traffic signals will be coordinated, such as 23rd Street, as funding becomes available. However, improvement along 23rd Street would probably be limited due to the large number of driveways and the spacing of traffic signals.
