LHS Junior Advances: Ryan Morgan, a junior at Lawrence High, finished tied for sixth among a field of 65 golfers at the Future Collegians World Tour event in Stuart, Fla. Morgan qualifed for the FCWT Junior Championships next month in Florida.

Washington Camp Dates: Applications are being accepted for Marian Washington's Jayhawk Basketball Camps. Dates are June 6-10, June 20-24 and June 27-July 1. An elite camp for players ages 15-18 will be June 10-13. Also, a team camp will be conducted June 24-27. For information, call the KU women's basketball office at 864-4938.

  • Lawrence Divers Move On: John Gatti and Nick Leet of the Jayhawk Diving Club have qualified for Eastern National Competition in St. Peters, Mo., later this month. Gatti and Leet advanced at the regional championship meet last weekend in Lincoln, Neb.

  • LHS Volleyball Camps: Lawrence High volleyball coach Jo Huntsinger will conduct summer camps from July 19-23 for fourth- through sixth-graders and from July 26-30 for the 10th through 12th grades. For information, call 832-5050, ext. 250, or 749-3135.

  • Raintree Run April 17: Raintree Montessori School will hold its fourth annual Raintree Run on April 17. The event includes a 5K, a half-marathon and a one-mile fun run-walk. Registration forms are available at Raintree or at other sponsoring businesses. The Southwest Trafficway bike-hike path will be closed from 8 to 10:30 a.m. on race day.   • City Trio Soccer Selectees: Three Lawrence youths -- Morgan Matthews, Sarah Butler and Alicia Sellon -- have been selected to participate in a KSYSA soccer sports camp in July at Northern Illinois. Matthews and Butler are ninth-graders, but play varsity soccer for Free State and Lawrence High respectively. Sellon is an eighth-grader.

  • LABA Registration: Registration forms for youths ages 15-18 who want to play for Lawrence Amateur Baseball Association teams this summer are available at Holcom Park Center, 2700 West 27th. Deadline for registration is next Thursday. For information, call Lee Ice at 832-7940.

  • City Wrestlers Shine: Lawrence's Justin Stevens and Ian Brk placed second and sixth respectively in their weight classes at the AAU Folkstyle Wrestling world championships last weekend in Des Moines. Both Stevens and Brk are ninth-graders at West Junior High.

  • Local Volleyballers Win: A team from Sport2Sport won a girls' 14's volleyball tournament last Saturday in Independence, Mo. Team members are Bryn Gardner, Morgan McMichael, Jamie Amerine, April Moege, Sarah Sims and Calli Simnitt. Coaches are Abby Noll and Stephanie Lalman.

  • Force U-17 Boys Win: Nathan Borland and Mike Blackford scored with assists from Randy Balm and Chris Kelly as Kaw Valley Force U-17 boys blanked the KCK Nomads last Sunday in Olathe. Also, the KVF U-9 boys bowed 4-0, U-10 boys fell 4-3, U-14 boys lost 2-1, U-19 boys were blanked 2-0 and the U-12 girls posted a 1-1 tie. Joe Varberg had two goals in the U-10 defeat.

  • Horseshoe League Forming: Lawrence Horseshoe Club's handicapped-scoring league will begin on Thursday at Broken Arrow Park. The league will run for 10 weeks. For information, call Wynne Mihura at 843-8450.
