LEONA MARSH BALL
Private family graveside services for Leona Marsh Ball, 92, Lawrence, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Ball died Monday, April 5, 1999, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.
She was born Nov. 2, 1906, in Kansas City, Kan. She was raised in Lawrence and graduated from Kansas University in 1928.
She was a high school history teacher in McPherson for two years after graduating from KU. She later worked as a secretary at the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department. In 1955 she started working as a medical secretary in Grandview, Mo. She retired in 1968 and returned to Lawrence.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Association of University Women, the Betty Washington Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, and National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
She married Mahlon C. Ball in 1930. He died in 1951.
Survivors include two sons, Mahlon M. Ball, Evergreen, Colo., and Stanton M. Ball, Fort Worth, Tex.; a brother, Charles L. Doane, Omaha, Neb.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Good Samaritan Fund at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.
