Is the city planning to do anything about the huge ruts on Connecticut Street? They're terrible at Seventh Street, Ninth Street and 11th Street.
You bet. The city has hired crews to repave 18 streets in town this summer, City Manager Mike Wildgen said. Among them is Connecticut, from Seventh to 15th.
Look for Connecticut's rut-riddled pavement to be milled away and replaced with a fresh surface and lane markings sometime in September.
The project is included in the first phase of the city's annual overlay program, which is being handled by LRM Industries. The company will earn $584,554 to tear up 88,642 square yards of pavement on 18 streets, which will get 12,841 tons of fresh asphaltic pavement.
Several areas also will get new curbs and pavement markings.
