Four candidate forums for local, state and federal offices have been scheduled in the area.
The general election is Nov. 3.
Voters will choose a U.S. senator, U.S. representatives, governor, state senators and representatives, county commissioners, board of education posts and other offices.
The forums, starting times, locations and sponsors are :
- 7 p.m. Thursday, American Legion Building, Baldwin. Candidates for all contested races have been invited. Sponsored by Town and Country Republican Women and the American Association of University Women of Baldwin.
- 7:30 p.m. Oct. 7, Lawrence High School Cafeteria, 19th and Louisiana. Candidates for the State Board of Education and Douglas County Commission have been invited. Sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Douglas County, Lawrence branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, local chapter of American Association of University Women and Local Youth in Government.
- 8 p.m. Oct. 19, Lawrence City Hall, Sixth and Massachusetts. Candidates for all contested races have been invited. Sponsored by the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce.
- 7:30 p.m. Oct. 20, Building 21, Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds. Candidates for all contested races have been invited. Sponsored by the Douglas County Property Owners Assn. Inc.
