Teams of three will assemble to spell it out Thursday as part of the fifth annual Corporate Spelling Bee, sponsored by the Journal-World.
The bee will be at 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn and Holidome, 200 McDonald Drive.
The top three teams and the team with the most spirit will receive prizes and everyone will get refreshments, said Steve Koppen, J-W circulation sales manager and one of the event's organizers.
Money raised by the $300 per team entry fee goes to the Newspapers in Education program, which helps provide 3,165 papers each week to 40 area elementary and secondary schools at no charge.
The papers are used in school work in a variety of ways, depending on the grade level.
This year, the goal was 25 teams. Sponsoring two teams each were Allen Press and Sunflower Cable.
The remaining sponsors were the Journal-World, Sallie Mae, Wal-Mart, Stephens Real Estate, Kansas Public Service, Bud Jennings Carpet One, Oread Inc., Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Golf Course Superintendents, Southwestern Bell, Holidome, Packerware Corp., Douglas County Bank and Communicolor Inc.
